Micro-Needling in Atlanta
What Is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure which is intended to significantly improve the appearance of acne scars, aged and sun-damaged skin, facial and décolleté lines, wrinkles and stretch marks.
Micro-needling is a form of collagen induction therapy as it induces the production of collagen and increases skin elasticity. Collagen gives structure to your muscles, bone skin, and other connective tissues. But when your body starts to age, the production of collagen reduces, which leads to several signs of skin aging such as age spots, wrinkles, hyperpigmentations, and others. There are several invasive and non-invasive treatments to reduce signs of skin aging and various problems. But a treatment that induces the growth of collagen to enhance the appearance of your skin is micro-needling.
How Does Micro-Needling Work?
The technique makes use of a tool called a ‘derma-pen’ or ‘derma-rollers’ that pricks tiny holes in your skin called micro-injury. The micro-injury stimulates the growth of collagen and elastin, the key to new, youthful-looking skin. The device slides along the skin, penetrating the upper layers of the skin to a depth of up to 2mm to create numerous tiny needle wounds. Micro-needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which triggers new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer and younger-looking skin.
This procedure works excellently in dramatically creating absorption of topically applied preparations that can enhance your results. PRF and growth serums are our top recommendations to add on to this procedure.
